We do both, so this is not a sales pitch for one over the other. It is a question of how many times the thing goes up.
What each one means here
Hire. You get the wall for your event — delivered, installed, packed down and collected. The reusable aluminium frame comes back to us afterwards. You can keep the printed graphic on request, which people often do, because the graphic is the part with your brand on it and it stores flat.
Buy. The frame and the graphic are yours. You store them, you transport them, and you decide who puts them up.
Commission. For a bespoke build — non-standard shapes, cut-outs, integrated lighting, mixed materials — the build is designed around your brand and quoted individually.
The question that decides it
How many times will this wall go up in the next twelve months?
Once, or for a specific occasion. Hire. A conference, an awards night, a product launch, a premiere — one date, one venue, no reason to own a frame that then lives in a cupboard.
Two or three times, in different cities. Usually still hire, and this surprises people. Owning a frame does not remove the freight, and it adds storage plus the risk of damage in transit between events you are not running yourself.
Monthly, or on a fixed site. Buying starts to make sense. A showroom backdrop, a recurring member event, a sales team that runs the same activation every few weeks — at that frequency the frame stops being an event cost and becomes equipment.
What hiring actually covers
Worth being clear, because “hire” means different things across the industry. With us it includes delivery, on-site install, pack-down and collection. Our crew builds the wall; you never touch a frame. A straight wall typically goes up in under two hours.
For interstate jobs the install is either our own crew or a vetted local partner, and your quote names which one before you book.
If you would rather run it yourself, depot pickup is available.
The graphic is the reusable part
Whichever way you go, remember the frame and the printed skin are separate. A hired frame with a graphic you keep means your next event can be a reprint on a fresh hire, or the same graphic on the same size frame again.
This is also why a rebrand does not write off a wall you own. New skin, same structure.
When to just ask
The awkward middle — four or five uses a year, mixed sizes, a couple of interstate — is where the answer depends on specifics we cannot guess: where you store things, who transports them, whether the sizes repeat.
Send us the year as you understand it. We will tell you which way the numbers fall, including when the answer is “hire, and stop thinking about it.”
Standard sizes are priced live on the product pages so you can compare. Custom builds are quoted within one business day.
